The Litmus Test of Politics

The Parties of New Zealand

The below parties are currently in Government, after the election if it changes we will also change this with the new results. The descriptions are taken from the respective Party’s websites, sometimes we may cut it short because some of them are too long.

Labour Party

Labour

Labour wants to make New Zealand a better place to live in by providing opportunities for all, jobs, strong public services, quality education, and affordable healthcare. We believe this can be achieved by keeping assets in Kiwi hands, taking care of our environment, and ensuring we get our economy back in the black without compromising the wellbeing of hardworking Kiwis.

National Party

National

The National Party has always valued enterprise, hard work and the rewards that go with success. We will continue to aspire to a New Zealand where all New Zealanders can flourish.

New Zealand First

New Zealand First’s founding aim was to place New Zealand’s interests once again at the forefront of government decision-making, and to promote the country’s interests through representation in Parliament.

New Zealand First’s policies inclusively reflect the interests of all New Zealanders and its approach is grounded in the reality of modern day New Zealand. The party is about putting New Zealand, and New Zealanders, first.

The Party has strong democratic values and empowers its members to make many important decisions, including the election of its leadership, the development of its policy platform, the list ranking of its Parliamentary candidates, and the approval of post-election governing arrangements with other parties.
